If one of your goals is to live healthier in 2011, a simple thing you can do is to change your soap. According to Ti Rogers, Founder of Gloria Marie Soaps most people don?t know the ingredients contained in an average bar bought at the grocery store.
?It has a lot of chemicals and detergents and these can be harmful to our bodies,? said Rogers. ?Sometimes we find out the hard way.?
It was concern over her three-year old daughter, Gloria Marie, that lead Rogers to start her own handmade soap company in Ashland City, Tennessee, a small town located about thirty miles from Nashville.
One day Rogers noticed that Gloria had developed a rash on her chest, elbows, and knees. It got worse and a trip to the doctor diagnosed the condition as eczema.
?I set out on a mission to free my daughter from the constant rashes and itching, so began the learning process of making soap. I spent several months studying the properties of different oils and the saponification process. I eventually made my first crude bars of all natural lye soaps,? she said.
Rogers says after using the handmade soaps on Gloria for several months, she noticed her daughter stopped having break outs. She also tried them on herself and noticed her own skin felt more moisturized and break outs on her face subsided as well.
With positive results, she began to tell family and friends and let them experience her creations. Soon they were telling their friends and more and more people were interested and began purchasing the soaps and with that her business was born.
The goal of Gloria Marie Soaps is to help consumers to make healthy choices in what they are putting on and in their bodies. The company is committed to providing natural alternatives for body care. All soap products are made from natural oils and goat?s milk that comes from registered Nubian dairy goats that are raised on Roger?s farm.
Gloria Marie?s current line of natural soaps includes five products ? oats and honey, lemon mint, lavender, green tea and aloe, and citrus breeze with all bars costing just under $ 5.00.
Along with the New Year, the company will be implementing a soap of the month which will enable consumers to try new scents that will only be available for that particular month.
The product line now also includes body butter and lip balms with plans for more to come. With a special day for sweethearts just around the corner, Rogers says she will be introducing bath salts, bath bombs, milk baths, and a new scent made specifically for Valentine?s Day.
?Our gift baskets could be just the thing to give the gift of health and to show someone that you care,? she said.
