Software installation problemreference to `gzopen64'

I am trying to install a software package samtools0.1.19. while i give make command it gives error as

I tried installing dependend packages and even used elrepo for redhat linux.. (http://elrepo.org/tiki/tiki-index.php) but it doesnt work..
Any suggestion to rectify the issue is very much appericiated..
